Meet Dr. Nelson
Dr. Nelson is one of the country's premier practitioners in Advanced Restorative Dentistry. He graduated from Marquette University's School of Dentistry in 1980. Dr. Nelson was named One of America's Top Dentists by the Consumers' Research Council of America in 2007 and 2008.
Dr. Nelson enjoys being a dentist and loves encouraging patients to build healthy life-long habits in the care of their teeth to achieve and maintain a beautiful smile. He has made a commitment in excellence in dental care, treating those with severe reconstructive needs as well as those looking to achieve the smile of their dreams.
Dr. Nelson continually refines his skills in dental treatment and techniques, completing advanced training in cosmetic dentistry and full mouth reconstruction. He taught dental students the art and science of dental restoration as a member of the faculty at Marquette University's School of Dentistry for over 26 years. Dr. Nelson is a member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, an honorary society for the highest achieving faculty and students in Dental Schools across the United States of America. He specializes in a full range of cosmetic and restorative dental procedures including porcelain veneers, dental bonding, tooth colored fillings, tooth whitening, natural looking porcelain crowns and bridges, and dental implants.
Dr. Nelson is an expert in providing all phases of surgical and restorative dental implant care in-office from start to finish. There are very few Smile Makeover Specialists in the world who also surgically place dental implants. Dr. Nelson belongs to a small group of Dental Specialists who are trained and able to do this. The need for the patient to go back and forth between different specialists to have their work completed is eliminated. Dr. Nelson does Smile Makeovers from the beginning through completion.
Dr. Nelson's community involvement is well known. For over 25 years, he participated in providing dental care as a clinical instructor at Marquette University Dental School's off campus community health centers throughout the city of Milwaukee, WI. For as many years, Dr. Nelson taught and led dental students in doing Head Start screenings for children. Here in Alaska, his involvement with the Head Start program continues, providing free screenings for children several times a year.
Dr. Nelson has nearly 30 years in his private dental practice, highlighting his expertise in Restorative and Implant Dentistry with a great emphasis on preventative care and aesthetics.
